Home visit from a distance to Xinjiang conveyed warmth. After finishing home visit in Akesu Prefecture, Xinjiang home visiting group consisting of 5 people, led by Yang Jun, Vice Minister of Office of Student Affairs and Lu Jianping, Ministry of people's armed forces, arrived in Kashgar on the evening of July 9, and then carried out a two-day home visit.

Coinciding with the traditional ethnic festival named Corban Festival, the students' homes were full of festival atmosphere. The group visited home of Xiaomu in Seman Township, Kashgar, who graduated from the preparatory class of School of Public Administration and entered School of Mathematics and Statistics. The group gave a comprehensive introduction to the students' performance at school and carefully explained the policy for tuition-free normal university students. The mother shed tears of gratitude when she learned the university's measures to help ethnic minority students and the state’s preferential policies for tuition-free normal students. As the only college student in Xiao Mu's family with many younger brothers and sisters, she was also a role model for them. Her eight-year-old sister told the teacher, “I want to be a doctor and study in Wuhan in the future.” When the group left, Xiao Mu's family danced a folk dance enthusiastically to bid farewell to the group.

The next day, the delegation left for Shule County, Kashgar Prefecture, visited the families of Xiao Xie from School of Chemistry and Xiao Li from College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, brought school’s greetings and concerns to them, and sent warmth and hope to parents. Yang Jun, along with his delegation, shared students’ performance in school with parents, enabling parents to know more about their children’s condition at school and rest assured.

At Xiao Xie’s home, Xiao Xie translated for family with full-time counselor for etnnic minorities, making the conversation between the delegation and parents more smoothly. Xiao Xie took the initiative to share her academic achievement in freshman year and her parents smiled happily. Yang Jun encouraged her to share household chores actively and teach her family to learn mandarin to promote national unity.

After that, the delegation came to Xiao Li’s home, who was going to become a senior student and experience internship, and wanted to teach Chinese in Kashgar. Lu Jianping encouraged her to study skills and develop talent in school, and build her hometown and serve the motherland after graduation. The home visit from a distance has been highly appreciated by students’ parents.

Education should have a sense of mission; home visit should be warm. Sincere handshakes, knowing smiles, and in-depth heart to heart talks reflected the true meaning of our home visits. Up to now, the home visit activity named “Dream pursuing & Forwarding together” was finished successfully. So far, the activity of “home visits for students in border areas”, organized by Office of Student Affairs, has been carried out for the fifth consecutive year, with a total of nearly 200 student families visited. Through the down-to- earth home visits, the education attitude of Central China Normal University reassures and satisfies students and their families.
