To enhance students' awareness of discipline, national security, and risk prevention capabilities, the School of Journalism and Communication recently launched a thematic learning activity titled "Strengthening the Security Line of Defence, Cultivating Youth Responsibility." Counselors from all grades combined typical cases with educational key points, delivering in-depth lectures on warning against college students' violations and legal risks, as well as educating students on the concept of national security, thus presenting a vivid ideological education class.
Li Hong, counselor for the classes of 2022 and 2024, began her speech by highlighting recent disciplinary cases in higher education institutions to warn students to strictly abide by school rules and regulations. She cited several incidents: a student from a certain university used VPN to seek illegal profits; another student deceived classmates of over 120,000 yuan for online gambling; and a third student repeatedly took exams on behalf of others. These behaviors not only damaged personal reputation and future prospects but also exerted negative impacts on schools and society at large. Ms. Li emphasized that discipline is an insurmountable red line, and every student should consciously uphold a sound academic environment.

In conjunction with the theme of "National Security Education Day for All," Counselor Li systematically interpreted the connotation of national security and citizens' obligations by addressing three key aspects: the core principles of the national security concept, its key components, and the significance of understanding and studying it. She stressed that national security is closely related to every student. Safeguarding national security is not only a legal obligation but also a responsibility for young people. She encouraged students to become disseminators and practitioners of national security education, emphasizing that individual actions contribute to the collective security of the nation.

Additionally, focusing on the recent incidents of electric vehicle battery fires on campuses of colleges and universities in Hubei Province, Ms. Li guided students to develop rational thinking. She linked these cases to practical issues such as campus electric vehicle management and dormitory fire safety, calling on students to pay attention to daily safety risks and fulfill their public responsibilities. She emphasized that maintaining campus safety requires collective awareness and proactive measures, urging everyone to be vigilant and contribute to a safe living and learning environment.

This thematic education activity not only enhanced students' awareness of safety and discipline but also helped them establish a stronger sense of protection, promoting their comprehensive development. By integrating real-life cases with theoretical education, the event enabled students to recognize the importance of adhering to rules, safeguarding national security, and assuming social responsibilities. As future media professionals, students are expected to carry forward the spirit of the activity, spreading awareness of security and responsibility within and beyond the campus community.
