May 15, 2025

The Voice of CCNU On the afternoon of April 29, the 2nd Session of the 2025 "Truth-Seeking Ideological and Political Education Forum", hosted by the Office of Student Affairs of the Party Committee (Office of Graduate Student Affairs) and organized by the Institute of Political Science and National Governance Studies (Institute of China Rural Studies), was successfully held in the Lecture Hall on the first floor of the Science Auditorium. Centered on the theme "Fortifying Security Foundations to Protect Campus Safety", the event featured expert presentations by Officer Wu Peng, Director of Mafangshan Police Station, Hongshan Branch, Wuhan Public Security Bureau and Dr. Guo Yueping, Psychiatrist at the Psychological Clinic of Central China Normal University Hospital. Distinguished attendees included Yang Jun, Director of the Office of Student Affairs Division(Office of Graduate Student Affairs), Wang Jun, Director of the Security Division, Zheng Ning, Party Committee Secretary of the Institute of Political Science and National Governance Studies, and Li Xianling, Deputy Director of the Ideological and Political Education Division(Office of Graduate Student Affairs). Deputy Party secretaries from various academic units and all full-time and part-time counselors participated in the professional development session, which was chaired by Yang Jun.

In his opening speech, Yang Jun pointed out that the current campus security and stability were facing challenges from the superposition of seasonal risks. The training was aimed to enhance the ability of all political work cadres in analyzing and judging political and stability-related risks, handling emergencies, and conducting mental health education.

Taking "Jointly Building a Safe Campus" as the theme, Director Wu Peng analyzed campus safety hazards through real cases by combining the three major fields of personal safety, property safety, and internet usage safety, and proposed targeted prevention and control strategies. He focused on explaining the practical path of the police-school linkage mechanism, conducted in-depth exchanges with on-site counselors on issues such as ideological and political safety education and emergency handling of unexpected incidents, and provided new ideas for constructing a "co-built, co-governed and co-shared" safe campus ecosystem.

With the theme of "Common Mental Disorders and Prevention in College Students", Guo Yueping systematically interpreted the clinical characteristics and key prevention points of three high-incidence mental illnesses: anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, and bipolar affective disorders. Combining epidemiological data with typical cases, she emphasized the importance of early identification and home-school collaboration, and answered questions about the psychological crisis intervention process, providing scientific guidance for counselors to carry out mental health education work.

In his concluding speech, Yang Jun emphasized that campus safety and mental health education were of paramount importance to students' well-being and the university's development. All political work cadres should take this training as an opportunity to continuously enhance their political stance, strengthen their sense of responsibility, focus on their main duties, and deeply implement tasks such as the counselors' "Six Ones" and "Five Must-Talks" initiatives. They should closely engage with students, understand their needs, and serve them, always paying attention to students' dynamics, safeguarding their safety, and caring for their growth. By working together to uphold the bottom line of security and stability, they would build an impregnable and unbreakable defense line for students' physical and mental health and the university's career development. At the end of the meeting, Yang Jun made relevant arrangements for the university's recent security and stability work.
